what should i say at the world government summit?

Hey Friends -

Wanted to thank you for any gifts/shares/general well-wishes that helped in fulfilling needs for John in South Sudan, and Onnissia in Brooklyn, NY, USA.  πŸ’—

John, a bicycle repairer in Rumbek Town, had a leg injury for years, but couldn't afford medical treatment.  So an organization in nearby Juba - led by Mayom Marek, a former child soldier who received a gift from the Seeds community in 2016, and then decided to teach his friends and neighbors how to use Seeds - redeemed a SEED on his behalf.

Here's John with his family, which includes his brother's children, whom he began caring for after his brother was killed in communal conflict.

Thanks to the generosity of our givers in fulfilling John's request, we received this update about John's health status last week:

"John Malou came from Rumbek to Juba City on 14 of January 2023 for his medical operation which was done on 18 of January, 2023 at Juba Military Hospital which has Orthopedic physicians. He is in the hospital now. The money ($2000) given to him from Seeds Community has covered all expenses in the hospital. The wound developed into an ulcer in which the leg was damaged due to lack of money to go for medication for the last two years.

We will update the Seeds community and donors about his healing as time goes by.

Best Regards,

Adut Mayor and Errand of Mercy Team

Hai Referendum, Juba, South Sudan."

This is Onnissia, and she's an artist.  Her work lives at the intersection of Afrofuturism & Femme sexuality. The gift she received from the Seeds community is helping to fund a residency to assist in her preparation for a fall show.

Another thing that was cool about Onnissia's Request for Help was that it was facilitated by another artist, who redeemed a SEED on Onnissia's behalf to help her activate it.

After the request was fulfilled, Onnissia sent us this note:

β€œThis is so AMAZING! I just secured my debut NYC solo show which is scheduled for September this year and I've been stressed out because I don't have the funds to cover an artist residency so that I can make art for the show. This is something of dreams. I could cry right now. It's a real-life miracle. I seriously can't thank you all enough….Thank you so much. If I can do anything to uplift the Seeds Community, please let me know. I am so thankful right now.”

If you'd like more frequent updates about the impact your gift is making - and/or you just want to hang out and chat - our Discord is the place.

Last thing - I got an invitation to speak on a couple panels at the World Government Summit in Dubai next week, thanks to a Swiss Web3 non-profit organization called reState, so I'm headed there tomorrow.

While I'd never heard of WGS, apparently it's the largest global conference for governments.  Their stated mission is β€œto inspire and enable the next generation of governments.”

To that end, what do you think it'd be most helpful for me to say while there?  Please feel free to drop a comment if you have any thoughts.

I'm of the opinion that nation-states defined by physical borders probably shouldn't/won't exist much longer (and it sounds like reState is exploring how decentralized technology may support updated organizational structures).

Beyond that, I see an enormous need for a healthy infusion of feminine energy in all human-made systems, which will require most, if not all, to be completely reimagined.  I can't overstate how deep I perceive this need to be.

As most of y'all know, the intention behind Seeds is to ground ample feminine energy in a new, kinder economic ecosystem, because unlike extractive late-stage capitalism, Seeds builds abundance through giving by design.  But relatively few people are aware of our project.

That's cool in the sense that it means you're all early adopters, and I'm wondering if this event can provide our work with something of a formal introduction on the world stage.

Will have to let y'all know how it goes. ✌️
