the smartest, kindest people i know do this πŸ’—

If you're new around here, you may not know that Seeds is like global, digital mutual aid.

It uses decentralized tools to circumvent the old gatekeepers who have discriminated against so many of us.

Staking is a big part of what empowers us to do this, because staking creates our mutual aid pool.  For years now, we've offered what is, to my knowledge, the most generous staking bonus in cryptocurrency (and for that matter, in legacy finance) - and I want you to be a part of it.

Each month in 2024, we'll choose a winner who will receive a 50% reward (e.g. you stake $1000, you win $500).   In addition, staking can result in surprise airdrops (like the free $3400 I got about a month ago, per the email I sent y'all then), and earns you trading fees.

Compare this to the <3% you can receive when staking on centralized, custodial platforms (aka they hold your money hostage) like Coinbase.  Or the maybe 0.5% annualized return you'll see in a checking account at a traditional bank.

Note: I wouldn't recommend leaving your money on any centralized platform if you can avoid it.  Part of the beauty of DeFi is that we can benefit from it - often receiving much larger returns - while retaining custody of our funds.

In terms of real world impact, staking in DeFi allowed Seeds to help these folks in South Sudan after UN Aid left them standing in the mud.  It's empowered us to help people in 29 countries to date - regardless of whether or not they have bank accounts.

Want to learn more?  Check out our <5 minute staking demonstration video, and read up on the specifics of this year's bonus.  If you have any questions, we're happy to help - best place to ask is in the Discord, where you can also search to see if your question has been answered previously.

The more people who use Seeds in the spirit of giving - the better it works.  If you've ever benefited from Seeds: if you've received a gift, gotten SEEDS in thanks, learned something new, if you've been inspired to feel a little but more hopeful in the midst of the hopelessness that I know I often feel re: being trapped against my will in the old system - please contribute.

The Bitcoin halvening is less than 3 months away, and right now I'm seeing echoes of where we were in early 2020, before things popped off - both in terms of the cryptocurrency market at large, and regarding where things are with Seeds.

It's truly a Spiral Course of Progress.  I haven't taken a salary from Seeds in many years, and in early 2020, some of you may remember that I had to redeem a SEED to ask for help myself to avoid eviction.  The generosity in the response humbled me.

This time around, things are relatively tight again, but a SEEDS-ETH pool of some substance exists, and I'm fortunate to have a home.

But even so, gifts to Seeds, and the size of our pool, are probably at their low for this cycle - so we especially need your support.

Please give, and/or stake, and/or tell a friend about the project.

We've all got to come together to make Seeds thrive, so that it's able to sustain us when we need it.

xo,
Rachel
