“RAIN is a non-profit in Tacoma, WA promoting innovation in life science through education and entrepreneurship.
We’re building an RNA/DNA sequencing capability to serve a two-fold function: forensic analysis, as well as detection of SARS-CoV-2 viral variants. In order to accomplish this, we need a genetic sequencer, which we can buy used for $50,000.
Help us eliminate the backlog of thousands of unanalyzed rape kits, as well as that of potentially exonerating DNA evidence languishing in police evidence storage.
Detection of variants will help control spread of COVID, and use of the sequencer will provide STEM training for underrepresented students as well.”
