Anyone can redeem a SEED, our cryptocurrency for social good, to make a Request for Help. A member of the management team at Consett Heart - Heritage & Arts Centre in England redeemed a SEED to make the following request. Here it is in her own words, with slight editing for clarity:

“We’re a group of five creatives that started a not-for-profit community interest company a couple of years ago. We wanted to create a space in our town that actively supports the arts and all creative outlets, while also providing activities that celebrate the area's heritage - thus was born Consett Heart, Heritage and Arts Centre.

Together, we saved a local landmark, which was originally built by public subscription, from being auctioned for commercial development, though, because we were unable to raise funds and purchase the building ourselves, a local trust bought it and are now leasing it to us on a long-term basis.

In an effort to secure the longevity of our project we’d like to have complete creative control over the space, including how capital is spent when renovations and upgrades are carried out by way of ownership of the building. Ownership of the building would allow us to focus our efforts on providing activities promoting heritage and arts, rather than on raising funds to cover our rent and overheads - meaning we would save ~$90k in rent costs over the course of our lease. Additionally, by owning the building we’ll have more funding opportunities opened to us for capital upgrades to the building - which are not generally open to companies who are leasing their space.

It is our hope in raising funds to purchase our building in this way, that we will in turn be bringing awareness to Seeds within our local community, showing that through the power of giving and funding a local community project, Seeds can provide abundance for all.
